In a surprising announcement, Lucasfilm has revealed they are bringing back beloved series “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” for twelve all-new episodes to debut on Disney’s upcoming direct-to-consumer streaming service.
“Star Wars Rebels” showrunner Dave Filoni made the announcement at San Diego Comic-Con during a 10th anniversary panel celebrating the beloved animated series.
The show first aired in 2008 and followed fan-favorites like Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Padme Amidala. It also introduced iconic new characters like Ahsoka Tano and Captain Rex.
The series ended after five broadcast seasons but the storyline was left unfinished, cutting out as Ahsoka left the Jedi Order. Filoni says the new episodes will allow him to put the final pieces of the story into place.
