57-year-old actor Jimmy Vee is taking over as the iconic Star Wars droid R2-D2 in the wake of the legendary Kenny Baker passing last year.
Vee’s first work will be seen in this December’s “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” in which he took over from Baker as R2-D2
Vee, who has also been in “Harry Potter” and “Doctor Who,” did some work in the role in “Star Wars: the Force Awakens,” however all credit went to Baker.
At the same time, Making Star Wars has scored new details on the planets we’ll be seeing in the film, specifically the movie is mostly set around three key locales – Ahch-To which we saw in the final moments of ‘Force Awakens,’ a casino planet, and a red planet covered in snow.
“Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ is targeting a December release.
