If it were to follow the pattern of its predecessor, the title for Rian Johnson’s “Star Wars: Episode VIII” would have already been revealed at this point.
J.J. Abrams’ “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” unveiled its title not long after filming wrapped, and Johnson’s film wrapped shooting a few weeks back with the director currently deep into the editing phase. John Williams is ready to begin his work on the score imminently.
The film’s leading lady, Daisy Ridley, has revealed that we may be waiting a while longer before we learn what the production’s new moniker will be. Appearing on popular British podcast My Dad Wrote a Porno, talk briefly touched upon Episode VIII and when we might find out the title. She said:
“I heard a title, but I don’t know if it’s going to be that. I really don’t know much about anything. I heard the title a long time ago before we started filming, and so I feel some things have slightly tweaked during production. It’s going to be a while before it’s released I imagine.”
“Star Wars: The Force Awakens” was originally going to be titled “Star Wars: Shadow of the Empire” but that ultimately changed. Even so, ‘Force Awakens’ wasn’t actually revealed as a title until November the year before release and with ‘Episode VIII’ not due out until December 15th 2017 – it means we probably won’t know it until late this Fall.
