Star Wars: Episode VII Heads To Ireland

The Irish Office of Public Works (OPW) has confirmed to a local publication that Disney/Lucasfilm will be shooting scenes for “Star Wars: Episode VII” off the coast of County Kerry in Ireland.

Filming is set to take place around Skellig Michael, a World Heritage-listed island in the Atlantic Ocean, 11.6 km west of the Iveragh Peninsula in County Kerry. The Skellig is home to some ancient Christian Monastic ruins.

It’s unknown at this time though when filming will commence in Kerry. Production took place in Abu Dhabi earlier this year before moving to Pinewood Studios in England.
