With “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” hitting DVD and Blu-ray today, Lucasfilm has announced today the start of their 2016 “Star Wars: Force for Change” campaign – following on from last year’s successful run which managed to pull in over $10 million for charity.
This year’s edition offers fans the chance to win a signed “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” Blu-ray or the grand prize of a trip to Ireland to visit Skellig Michael, the island seen in the last sequence of ‘Force Awakens’. Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy and actor Mark Hamill announced the details in the video below:
Meanwhile EW has revealed the reasoning behind an oddity in one scene in the film. When Adam Driver’s Kylo Ren removes his helmet, he puts it down on a pool of ashes within the Starkiller Base. Now, director J.J. Abrams has revealed what those ashes were: “The backstory is, that that table has the ashes of the enemies he’s killed. That moment was actually shot for, and meant to be used in, the scene where he was talking to the Vader mask.”
The next film in the franchise to come out will be the spin-off “Rogue One” later this year starring Felicity Jones and Diego Luna. A new report at Making Star Wars suggests Luna’s character name is Cassein Willix, a new creation and NOT related to Luke’s friend Biggs Darklighter whom rumor suggested was the role Luna was playing. The site also indicates that according to what they’ve heard, the character is a Rebel spy who infiltrates the Imperial Senate.
To cap things off, Honest Trailers have released their takedown of the film, but spend most of it praising it and agreeing on the stuff they liked including “Poe Dameron’s beautiful face”.
