With the new movies handled yesterday, much of the attention surrounding the franchise at the Star Wars Celebration event in the UK this weekend moved to the gaming arena and two major titles related to the “Star Wars” universe.
Star Wars VR
Screenwriter David Goyer (“Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice”) is teaming up with ILMxLAB for a new VR game project that will focus on Darth Vader. Before that though we’re getting ILMxLAB’s Trials on Tatooine VR experience which will be available to try for free starting this Monday for those with the HTC Vive VR headset.
Star Wars Battlefront
The focus here was on two things. First up, elements of “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” will be coming to the game as its final DLC expansion pack which will be available in early 2017. The action will be set on the tropical beach planet Scarif and can play characters such as Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones) and Director Krennic (Ben Mendelsohn). Despite ‘Rogue’ getting a look in, ‘The Force Awakens’ will still not be a part of the game.
Then there’s the immediate next expansion pack – the Death Star. There will be action within the facility, on the surface and in space surrounding it. Bounty hunter Bossk and Chewbacca have been added as the new playable heroes. Skirmish Mode gets an upgrade allowing for offline game mode allowing you to play single player or with a friend as a split-screen co-op.
