Electronic Arts and DICE’s video game title “Star Wars: Battlefront” has done strong sales, becoming EA’s best selling digital title at launch.
Physical sales have been decent but down, and reviews have been fairly mixed with many complaining about how thin the game is on content – only half the amount of maps and modes are present compared the decade old original title along with no classes and fewer weapons.
Now, DICE’s executive VP Patrick Soderlund tells Cinema Blend that after the release of the Battle of Jakku DLC in early December, owners of the game will have free additional follow-up DLC that’s not necessarily a part of the expensive $50 ‘Season Pass’ content on the way:
“We will be adding more of what you love about the game, like new maps and Star Cards, for free in the coming months, in addition to all of the content we have coming with Season Pass. We’ll have more to share soon.”
The ‘Season Pass’ is said to include sixteen all new maps and four new game modes. Will the promise of free content be enough to keep gamers engaged, or will ‘Battlefront’ be the next “Titanfall”? It’s a wait and see for now.
