“Star Trek: Discovery” Gets Three Klingons

Shazad Latif (“Penny Dreadful”), Chris Obi (“American Gods”) and Mary Chieffo have joined the cast of CBS All Access’ “Star Trek: Discovery” series with each set to play a Klingon.

Obi is T’Kuvma, a Klingon leader seeking to unite the houses, Latif is his protege Kol, and Chieffo is a battle deck commander named L’Rell.

The story is set around a decade before the original series and roughly a century after Earth made first contact with the Klingon species. At this point the Federation and Klingons are facing an uneasy cold war.

The trio join previously announced actors Doug Jones as Lt. Saru, Anthony Rapp as Lt. Stamets, and Michelle Yeoh as Captain Georgiou. The new series premieres in May.
