One of the big questions remaining about James Gunn’s “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” is that of Sylvester Stallone’s involvement.
According to Gunn, both Stallone and “Smallville” actor Michael Rosenbaum have small but key roles in the film as characters who “are very important to the Marvel Universe”. There’s also indications these characters could go on to further appearances. Now a new update from the Italian website MoviesBook suggests which character Stallone might be playing.
POTENTIAL MINOR SPOILER AHEAD
In a tweet, the site says Stallone is in the role of ‘Stakar’. There’s only one Marvel character with that name – Stakar Ogord, better known as 31st century-born time-travelling Marvel hero Starhawk. A recent excerpt from the junior novelization of the sequel in a separate report at MCU Exchange lends credence to this, as does the casting of Elizabeth Debicki as Ayesha in the film – her character is Starhawk’s mother in the comics.
The news comes as the film has just scored a PG-13 rating for “sequences of sci-fi action and violence, language, and brief suggestive content”. Check out some new photos and artwork for the film in the gallery below. “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” opens in cinemas on May 5th.
