Stallone, Chan Talk “Rambo V” & “Rush Hour 4”

Sylvester Stallone may be finished with “The Expendables” for now, but he’s already at work preparing for another sequel, a fifth “Rambo”. Stallone has been talking up the film for years, saying it will essentially be a “melancholy end” to the franchise with a “No Country for Old Men”-style tone.

Appearing at a party in New York last night, he tells Vulture that “Rambo V” is closer to happening than ever, in fact it might just be next for him: “I’m getting ready for that. I’m starting to work out. I’m going to be appropriately vicious and all that stuff, but intellectual. A killer with a heart.”

Meanwhile, fellow action star Jackie Chan has been in the UK this week doing press for “Chinese Zodiac” and was asked by British TV host Jonathan Ross if a fourth “Rush hour” will ever happen. He said (via IGN):

“Lately they want to make Rush Hour 4. I said ‘No, show me the script first. I don’t need another Rush Hour 4. You need Rush Hour 4. Show me the script.’ I don’t want to do a rubbish script just because they want to make the movie.”

Stallone has wanted Chan for “The Expendables” for several films now, and Chan tells Den of Geek that is still very much the case going forward and yet again he’s likely to turn Stallone down:

“This morning I did hear – the office called – Sly [Stallone] wants me for Expendables 4. I said, ‘Okay.’ Because they already asked me to be in two and three, but I refused. Well, I didn’t refuse, but I said, ‘Sly, can’t we just do you and me? Not just a bunch of people and me only coming out for five minutes.’ Because then the audience is, ‘Oh!’ And then I’m gone.”

The one sequel Chan says he would be up for doing? “Shanghai Dawn,” a sequel to Shanghai Noon and Shanghai Knights.
