“Spirited Away” Returns To Cinemas Next Month

To celebrate its 15th anniversary, director Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli’s Oscar winning and critically-acclaimed animated film “Spirited Away” is returning to U.S. cinemas this December.

Fathom Events, in partnership with GKIDS, will bring the film back to 400 cinemas in an event that will screen twice but with different versions. On Sunday, December 4th at noon will be the English dubbed version. On Monday, December 5th at 7pm will be the English subtitled version. Both sessions are at local times.

Arguably the most celebrated of Ghibli’s works and considered by many to be the best animated feature of all time, the story follows ten-year-old Chihiro Ogino’s journey after accidentally wandering into a magical world filled with witches, dragons and spirits.

The North American premiere of Studio Ghibili’s animated short film, “Ghiblies: Episode 2” will show following “Spirited Away.” Visit the Fathom Events website linked below for the full list of participating theaters.
