Spike Lee’s “BlacKkKlansman” Set For August

Focus Features has announced an August 10th release date for Spike Lee’s “BlacKkKlansman” with plans for a moderate release ahead of a further expansion.

The story follows Colorado Springs’ first African-American police officer who went undercover to infiltrate the Ku Klux Klan at its highest levels to thwart its attempt to take over the city. John David Washington, Adam Driver, Laura Harrier, and Topher Grace co-star.

Lee, Jordan Peele, Jason Blum, Sean McKittrick and Raymond Mansfield produced the film which arrives on the same week as the one-year anniversary of the Charlottesville protests and could score a premiere at Cannes next month.
