Spike Lee is about to shop around “Archer,” no not FX’s adult animated spy comedy. Rather it’s a new dark comedy and sociological thriller series boasting a “young, black Mark Zuckerberg-like protagonist”.
Tech entrepreneur and multi-hyphenate rising star Chad Sanders will develop the series with Lee which is loosely based on Sanders’ life. The action will flow between New York, Silicon Valley, and Berlin and follows a twenty-something African-American coding genius and iconoclast living in Brooklyn who has developed a dating app that reads sexual chemistry.
Sanders not only created but will star in, executive produce, write and direct episodes of the series. Lee is on board to direct the pilot episode and will executive produce through his 40 Acres and A Mule Filmworks production banner.
The series will be pitched to a variety of networks with no particular platform currently being targeted.
