Filmmaker Steven Spielberg and former secretary of state Hillary Clinton are teaming up to produce and develop a TV adaptation of Elaine Weiss’ recent acclaimed liberation novel “The Woman’s Hour: The Great Fight to Win the Vote” to be produced via his Amblin TV banner.
The story follows the women who battled for the right to vote and celebrates their efforts to change history in laying the foundation for the civil rights movement that arrived three decades later, and for getting the 19th Amendment ratified in 1920.
The plan is to turn the property into either a TV movie or limited series which will be shopped around to premium cable networks and streaming services. Clinton is expected to oversee the search for the writers, directors and cast members.
