In an age where more and more existing franchise are taking either a multiplayer-centric or full online-only ‘games as service’ approach, it’s heartening that a pure single-player only game is breaking records.
Insomniac Games’ PlayStation 4 exclusive “Marvel’s Spider-Man” has set a new PlayStation sales record, selling more than 3.3 million copies in its first three days – making it the fastest-selling first-party PlayStation title ever.
That tops the 3.1 million in sales that “God of War” pulled in earlier this year, “Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End” with 2.7 million and “Horizon: Zero Dawn” with 2.6 million.
The action-adventure game was released two weeks ago exclusively for PlayStation 4 and has received rave reviews from critics and fans, labelling it not only the best “Spider-Man” game to date but right up there with the absolute best superhero games ever made.
Three DLC packs for the game will be coming throughout the rest of the year.
