Marvel Studios’ “Spider-Man: Far From Home” has gotten off to a strong start, the film generating $39.2 million on opening day on Tuesday July 2nd.
That figure sets a new benchmark for Tuesday ticket sales, topping the record previously held by 2012’s “The Amazing Spider-Man” with $35 million.
The film is expected to earn $125 million during its first six days in theaters, though with good word of mouth it could rise as high as $150 million. “Spider-Man: Homecoming” debuted in 2017 to $117 million over a three-day frame ahead of an $880 million worldwide gross.
Whatever it earns will go on top of the $150 million it has already collected from China, Japan and Hong Kong where it opened a week early. “Spider-Man: Far From Home” reportedly came in at a cost of $160 million to produce.
