Canadian actor Scott Speedman (“Underworld,” “Felicity”) will play a gentleman bank robber in the indie true-crime feature “Edwin Boyd” from Euclid 431 Pictures says The Hollywood Reporter.
Boyd was a World War II veteran and a family man who rose to 1950s media fame as a gentleman bandit who undertook dramatic bank hold-ups and two prison breaks.
Also starring are Kelly Reilly as his wife, Brian Cox as his father, Brendan Fletcher as a fellow gang member, and both Charlotte Sullivan and Kevin Durand. Allison Black is producing.
The film is currently being shopped to foreign buyers at the European Film Market in Berlin. Shooting kicks off next Thursday in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario with a premiere likely to take place at the Toronto Film Festival in September.
