Spectre Opening Scene Details, Pics

While the teaser trailer for the next James Bond film “Spectre” surprisingly went further than expected in some of the film’s big reveals, one thing that was notably absent was action.

Much like the very first “Batman Begins” trailer, the filmmakers focused specifically on character drama for the teaser. Some establishing shots gave the footage grandeur, but even so it was only people sitting and talking in rooms.

One of the reasons for that is the film is still in the midst of shooting with some big action set pieces still to be done. The film’s production crew were recently on location in Mexico City shooting one of the key action set pieces of the film – the pre-credits sequence.

Various outlets were on hand in the city for one day of the nearly ten day shoot in which 1,500 extras participated in a recreation of the Mexican celebration of the Day of the Dead. Much like the opening to “Skyfall,” the opening scene will reportedly be an intense chase with Bond in pursuit of an assassin.

This is also the scene in which Stephanie Sigman’s Estrella character is involved. It appears the film starts with Bond and her amongst the festivities with her thinking she’s seduced him. Turns out he’s using her to get to her room in the Gran Hotel De La Ciudad De Mexico to get a vantage point on the dangerous Marco Sciarra (Alessandro Cremona).

Bond sees him, leaps into action and does something which causes a building explosion. He’s then in hot pursuit of Sciarra who calls in a helicopter to Zocalo Square. Bond fights off Sciarra’s cohorts and jumps onto the copter as the pair fight. As a result the chopper goes crazy and does some very dangerous 360-degree flips.

No doubt James gets his man as the funeral scene glimpsed in the trailer shows a mourning Monica Belluci who plays Lucia Sciarra, a woman is quite possibly Marco’s wife.

Producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson were on hand on the film’s set to talk about the movie as well and said Naomie Harris’ Miss Moneypenny is very much involved in the plot: “You can’t keep this one behind a desk. This Moneypenny is very active. She is key to the story and key to helping Bond on his mission. She’s not desk bound.”
