Sparks’ “Best of Me” Gets Adapted

J. Mills Goodloe (“The Mountain Between Us”) has been hired to pen the script for a film adaptation of Nicholas Sparks’ latest bestseller “The Best of Me” at Warner Bros. Pictures says Deadline.

The story follows two former small-town high school sweethearts from opposite sides of the tracks. Now middle-aged, they’ve taken wildly divergent paths but neither has forgotten their first love affair and the past is confronted when they return to their hometown for a funeral.

Goodloe is beginning work on the adaptation immediately. Denise DiNovi and Sparks are producing.

Warners will release their adaptation of another Sparks novel, “The Lucky One” starring Zac Efron, in April.
