Souvenir Parasite Top Ss 2019 Film Poll

Famed British cinephile magazine Sight & Sound have announced the results of their annual poll of their Top 50 films of the year with over 100 film critics (60 men, 40 women) weighing in.

Joanna Hogg’s “The Souvenir,” the 1980s UK set melodrama about a toxic relationship between a naive female film student and an older man who spirals into addiciton, came in on top – just beating out Bong Joon-ho’s “Parasite,” Martin Scorsese’s “The Irishman,” Quentin Tarantino’s “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,” and CĂ©line Sciamma’s “Portrait of a Lady on Fire” which made up the rest of the Top 5.

“Pain and Glory,” “Atlantics,” “Us,” “High Life,” “Uncut Gems,” “Monos,” “Marriage Story,” “Midsommar,” “The Lighthouse” and “Hustlers” amongst others also scored high while “The Farewell,” “Knives Out,” “Ad Astra,” “Booksmart,” and “Joker” also made the top 50.
