Comedy Central’s promotion for the twentieth season of “South Park” has ruffled some feathers it seems thanks to a series of mobile billboards which have been played in seven key locations around the country.
The billboard’s depict scenes from the series’ past, scenes that correspond to the truck placements, and tags them with the line “We’ve Been There”. Locations include The White House, The Lincoln Memorial, Church of Scientology HQ, Trump Tower, the Mormon Church HQ, Facebook HQ, Hooters, PF Changs, KFC and the Canadian border.
The marketing tactic didn’t go well at the first three of these locations. Walter Levitt, chief marketing officer for Comedy Central says in a statement to THR:
“In some cases, the locals were not pleased to have us outside their locations and asked us to leave, but that was all expected, and we completely understand why… we did this stunt because we thought it was a great way to remind South Park fans of all the amazing moments of the past 19 seasons and truly a perfect way to celebrate the 20th season.”
“South Park” kicked off its new season two weeks ago and will air new episodes through to year’s end.
