Corey Stoll (“House of Cards”) and Billy Magnussen (“Aladdin”) have joined the cast of “The Sopranos” prequel movie “The Many Saints of Newark” at New Line.
Set in the era of the Newark riots in the 1960s, the ensemble drama takes place when African-Americans and Italians of Newark were at each other’s throats and when among the gangsters of each group, it became especially lethal.
Alessandro Nivola will play Dickey Moltisanti, the mentor of a very young Tony Soprano. Jon Bernthal and Vera Farmiga joined the cast yesterday. Alan Taylor will direct from a script by David Chase and Lawrence Konner with the latter two producing.
