Sony Pictures has scored the international distribution rights to Alcon Entertainment’s “Blade Runner” sequel which Warner Bros. Pictures is distributing in North America and Canada.
Denis Villeneuve is helming the film, starring Ryan Gosling and Harrison Ford reprising his role as Rick Deckard. The story takes place several decades after the conclusion of Scott’s iconic 1982 original which was set in 2019 Los Angeles.
Hampton Fancher and Michael Green have penned the original screenplay based on an idea by Fancher and Ridley Scott. Production is officially slated to begin in July.
