Black Label Media and Sony Pictures have confirmed they are teaming up with the latter to release the high-profile pictures “Granite Mountain” and the “Sicario” sequel “Soldado” in North America and select international territories.
Word came last week that Black Label and Lionsgate, had come to an impasse over the handling of the release of the two films with disagreements over the film’s marketing and distribution plans. As a result, Black Label sought a new home for them and appears to have scored one very quickly.
“Granite Mountain” is Joseph Kosinski’s true story firefighting drama starring Josh Brolin, Taylor Kitsch, Jennifer Connelly, Miles Teller and Jeff Bridges, a film that received very high test scores from a recent screening. It had been set for a September 22nd release.
The Stefano Sollima-directed “Soldado” sees Benicio Del Toro and Josh Brolin reprise their characters for what is described as a story about the escalation of drugs along the border of Mexico. Taylor Sheridan returns to pen the script.
