Sony Pictures is reportedly moving forward on its five film cinematic universe based on the Valiant comic book titles “Harbinger” and “Bloodshot” which will then culminate in a “Harbinger Wars” crossover event film.
“Harbinger” will be the first film in the series. The comic, which the studio renewed its option on the other week, follows a teenage runaway named Peter Stanchek who has massive telekinetic powers. Eric Heisserer (“Arrival, “Lights Out”) is set to pen the script.
The second film would be “Bloodshot” which follows a mortally wounded soldier resurrected with cutting-edge nanotechnology and charged with rounding up ‘harbingers’ like Stanchek. That character would be introduced as the villain in “Harbinger” which is targeting a late 2017/early 2018 release with “Bloodshot” to follow a year later.
Attention will also be given to multiple characters from the comics including the HARD Corps, Livewire, Generation Zero and Faith. Neal Moritz and Dinesh Shamdasani will produce.
Valiant’s library of more than 2,000 superhero characters is the third largest library of superheroes behind Marvel and DC, and the only one not currently owned by major conglomerate.
