Sony Pictures is acquiring worldwide rights to the Tom Hanks scripted and led WW2 drama “Greyhound” which “Get Low” helmer Aaron Schneider is directing.
Based on C.S. Forester’s novel “The Good Shepherd,” Hanks plays Commander George Krause, a career Navy officer finally given command of a Navy destroyer where, along with the enemy he fights his self-doubts and personal demons to prove he belongs.
Budgeted at $30 million, Gary Goetzman will produce and filming begins in May ahead of a 2018 release. Forester also penned the novels that were the basis of “The African Queen” and the “Horatio Hornblower” series.
