Sony Plans More “Boondocks” & Tartakovsky

Sony Plans More Boondocks Tartakovsky

Sony Animation unveiled a collection of new projects at the Annecy International Animated Film Festival on Wednesday.

The most notable inclusion however was what has been dubbed a ‘re-imagining’ of Aaron McGruder’s celebrated comic strip turned Adult Swim animated TV series “The Boondocks”. The show debuted in late 2005 and took years on and off between seasons, seemingly wrapping with a fourth back in 2014.

Also on the way are two projects from “Samurai Jack” creator Genndy Tartakovsky – one is the R-rated comedy “Fixed” about a dog on his last day before being neutered. The other is “Black Knight,” a medieval adventure about a knight who must avenge his own mistakes to redeem his kingdom.

Also on the way is an anthology series based on the late Anthony Bourdain’s horror and food recipes comic “Hungry Ghosts”. The TV series is intended as a mix of horror and comedy with a different look and feel with each installment.
