Sony Pictures has scored the screen rights to the Broadway-bound musical “Once Upon a One More Time,” a fairy tale story set to the music of Britney Spears.
In the story, Cinderella, Snow White and the other fairy tale princesses gather for their book club when a rogue fairy godmother drops Betty Friedan’s feminist novel “The Feminine Mystique” into their laps, causing a revelation.
Songs like “Oops I Did It Again,” “Lucky” and “Toxic” feature. The stage version world premieres this fall in Chicago ahead of a 2020 Broadway bow.
Spears, Larry Rudolph and John Davis will produce but no writer or director has yet been attached.
