Sony Pictures is set to produce a new adaptation of Louisa May Alcott’s classic novel “Little Women”.
The story follows the lives of the four March sisters – the eldest Meg, the willful Jo (the novel’s protagonist), the quiet Beth, and the young Amy.
The reader follows this quartet as they grow from childhood to womanhood. A second volume and two sequels later followed.
Olivia Milch, daughter of “Deadwood” creator David Milch, is penning the new adaptation. Denise Di Novi and Robin Swicord are producing.
The project has been adapted for the screen several times, the most recent being Sony’s 1994 film starring Winona Ryder, Kirsten Dunst, Claire Danes, Christian Bale and Susan Sarandon.
