Sony Plans A Live-Action “Mulan” Movie

In a recent report about former Sony Pictures executive Doug Belgrad came the news that he’s set to co-finance half a dozen movies for the studio including the previously announced “Bad Boys 3,” the “Charlie’s Angels” reboot and the combo live-action CG “Peter Rabbit”.

One surprising inclusion though is a live-action “Mulan” movie. This won’t be like a live-action take on the 1998 Disney animated film which is how younger western audiences are most familiar with the story, rather the plan is to shoot the film in China with a Chinese partner to produce and co-finance along with a mostly Chinese cast.

The story follows a young woman who takes her father’s place in the army and was among the most skilled warriors China ever saw.
