Sony Pictures has picked up classic British cartoon “Danger Mouse” with plans to turn it into an animated feature which Original Film, Fremantle Media and Neal Mortiz will produce.
The Tracking Board reports that the film could well be an origin story about the world’s best secret agent, a white mouse with an eye patch, and his timid assistant Penfold. The cartoon effectively served as a kind of Bond spoof, with Danger Mouse often facing his evil toad enemy Baron Silas von Greenback.
The series ran from 1981 to 1992 and was recently rebooted and relaunched on CBBC in the UK with the likes of Alexander Armstrong, Stephen Fry, Lena Headey and John Oliver lending their voices to the series. That reboot will screen on Netflix U.S. starting in the Spring.
