Console rivals Sony and Microsoft are putting aside their rivalry to work together to build future cloud solutions in Microsoft Azure that will support gaming and content streaming.
In the deal, Sony will also be able to use Microsoft data centers and A.I. services for its existing game and streaming platforms – an agreement which could open up the possibility of cross-play in the future. Microsoft meanwhile gets a major customer and access to Sony’s image sensors.
The unprecedented collaboration effectively shores up the value of both ahead of the arrival of Google’s planned game streaming service, Google Stadia.
