Sony Pictures has decided to not move ahead with the horror project “The Bringing” which has Michael Pena attached to star.
Lionsgate, New Line, Paramount, and STX Entertainment are already lining up as suitors to take over the project which will have to shoot fairly soon to take advantage of a window in Pena’s schedule.
Pena plays a man investigating a woman’s deathin the notorious and infamous Cecil Hotel. The project is inspired by Elisa Lam, a woman found dead in 2013 in the L.A. hotel’s water tank
Kevin Kolsch and Dennis Widmyer (“Starry Eyes”) did a recent rewrite on the script and are now poised to take over as directors. Matthew Tolmach and Daniela Cristina Cretu will produce.
