Dito Montiel’s anticipated New York-set crime drama “The Son of No One” has apparently bombed at the Sundance Film Festival says Reuters.
Al Pacino, Channing Tatum, Ray Liotta, Juliette Binoche and Katie Holmes all star in the film which prompted a stream of walkouts during a preview for media and industry players on Monday.
Said room was crowded with executives from many of the major and minor studios. Yet significant portions of both that group and regular audience members left early, enough that “one observer to describe it as an ‘exodus’.” Another person’s attempt at applause at the end had almost no takers.
Montiel came to Sundance five years ago with the award-winning crime drama “A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints”. ‘Son’ will premiere as the closing-night selection on Friday.
It’s not disastrous however as films with lukewarm responses can often go on to find buyers and audiences.
