“The Mummy” and “Star Trek Beyond” actress Sofia Boutella is set to join Michael B. Jordan and Michael Shannon in the film adaptation of Ray Bradbury’s iconic sci-fi novel “Fahrenheit 451” for HBO.
The story is set in a totalitarian future where Guy Montag (Jordan), a fireman of the future who goes around burning books on Government orders, becomes disillusioned with the society which has become anti-social, hedonistic, and suppresses critical thought.
Shannon will play Beatty, Montag’s fireman captain and mentor. Boutella will play Clarisse, an informant caught between the competing interests of the pair. Ramin Bahrani is directing from a script he co-wrote with Amir Naderi.
Francois Truffaut previously adapted the work to the screen in 1966, while Frank Darabont and Tom Hanks were attached to an in development film version back in 2008.
