Soderbergh Definitely Retiring This Time?

“Contagion” director Steven Soderbergh has been threatening retirement for some time, now it would appear he means it according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Talking with The New York Times in his Manhattan painting studio, Soderbergh confirmed his intentions to become a full-time painter but adds a caveat – “I’m interested in exploring another art form while I have the time and ability to do so. I’ll be the first person to say if I can’t be any good at it and run out of money I’ll be back making another ‘Ocean’s’ movie.”

Soderbergh still has at least three more films in production – his male stripper drama “Magic Mike” in September, his “The Man from U.N.C.L.E.” film early next year, and the “Liberace” biopic with Matt Damon and Michael Douglas.
