Snyder Out, Lindelof In On “Watchmen” TV Series

Following their collaboration on “The Leftovers” coming to an end, HBO is enlisting producer Damon Lindelof to work on a cable series adaptation of Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons’ iconic comic “Watchmen”.

This take is reportedly unrelated to the version that the cable channel was developing two years ago with Zack Snyder, the director of the previous 2009 film adaptation of the comic about former superheroes coming together after one of them is murdered.

One difference now is that in the past ten years, DC Comics has released both an extensive prequel comic line called “Before Watchmen,” while elements from it are now being integrated into the broader DC Multiverse.

Lindelof co-created “Lost” and has scripted often contentious sci-fi films like “Prometheus,” “Tomorrowland” and “Star Trek Into Darkness”.
