Rumors have been flying back and forth in recent weeks about an eventual direct sequel to Zack Snyder’s “Man of Steel”. While “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” is technically the sequel, there’s been talk of Henry Cavill’s Superman getting his own film series to continue as well.
In a new interview with Jam Canoe, Snyder dismisses the talk saying ‘Dawn’ is essentially the sequel:
“I think in a way Batman v Superman is Man of Steel 2. Justice League is kind of the transcendent, knights-of-the-round-table of the story. It’d be interesting to think about what a standalone Superman movie might be.”
At present, and despite rumors, Warners doesn’t seem particularly interested in a solo Superman movie at this point – keeping the big blue boycott on hand for the two “Justice League” films after ‘Dawn’.
“Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” is currently slated to open in March.
