Snowpiercer Prequel Short, Rave Reviews

Bong Joon-ho’s much anticipated dystopian sci-fi feature “Snowpiercer” opens later this year, but the film screened last night in New York for a very select group of press and the first reviews have been very positive.

Variety calls it an “enormously ambitious, visually stunning and richly satisfying futuristic epic”, while Twitch says it is “a dark and ferocious genre film… the most accomplished overseas work of any Korean filmmaker to-date”.

Also today, an R-rated animated short has come online which effectively serves as a prequel for the movie – setting up the film’s premise of the last of humanity living out a new Ice Age onboard a perpetual-motion engine powered train dominated by a brutal class system.

Chris Evans, Song Kangho, Tilda Swinton, Jamie Bell, Octavia Spencer, Ewen Brewmner, Alison Pill, John Hurt and Ed Harris star in the project which has yet to set a specific U.S. release date.
