Smith Still Favorite For “Spectre” Theme

Sam Smith is the bookies’ favorite to record the new theme for the upcoming James Bond film “Spectre” opening late October.

The Bond themes are iconic and the pressure on any artist to deliver is intense, especially in the wake of Adele’s theme for the previous film “Skyfall” which took home both the Oscar and Golden Globe.

The film’s director Sam Mendes says the number has already been recorded and is pretty much ready to go, but just who recorded it remains a subject of fierce speculation.

THR reports that Smith remains the easy favorite with odds of 2-to-5 despite Smith himself denying the rumors earlier this year. Coming in second is Ed Sheeran at 8-to-1, followed by Ellie Goulding at 10-to-1, Adele returning for another go at 12-to-1, American singer Lana Del Ray at 14-to-1, baby voiced Lorde at 16-to-1, and former Oasis frontman Noel Gallagher at 25-to-1.

Whomever has been chosen is expected to be announced in the next few weeks and the song itself expected to be released around early October.
