Brian J. Smith (“Sense8,” “Stargate Universe”) and Jeremy Irvine (“War Horse,” “Stonewall”) have scored the two lead roles in “Treadstone,” the upcoming TV series spin-off of the Jason Bourne franchise.
USA Network recently ordered a full season of “Treadstone” which is being developed by “Heroes” creator Tim Kring and explores the origins and present-day happenings at the titular CIA black ops program which uses behaviour-modification tactics to turn soldiers into super assassins.
The first season is said to follow sleeper agents from all over the globe after they’re ‘awakened’. No premiere date has been set but production won’t begin until sometime in 2019 meaning it’s at least a year off from airing.
Irvine recently starred in the “Mamma Mia” sequel while Smith was cast in the Guy Pearce role in the “L.A. Confidential” series reboot at CBS which remains in development.
