“The Wrestler” and “Slumdog Millionaire” topped the London Film Critics’ Circle Awards on Wednesday, the duo taking Best Film and Best British Film respectively at the glamorous awards night reports The Press Association.
‘Wrestler’ also scored a win for Best Actor, while ‘Slumdog’ took home best screenwriter and director nods.
Kate Winslet scored best actress for her work in both “Revolutionary Road” and “The Reader”. Kristin Scott Thomas (“I’ve Loved You So Long”) too best British actress while Michael Fassbender (“Hunger”) scored best British actor.
David Fincher took best director for “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” while Tilda Swinton won best supporting actress for her work in that film. Eddie Marsan won best supporting actor for “Happy-Go-Lucky”.
Other awards included ‘Breakthrough British filmmaker’ to Steve McQueen for “Hunger”, Thomas Turgoose winning a ‘Young British performer’ nod for “Eden Lake” and “Somers Town”, and “Waltz with Bashir” took home best foreign-language film.
