Slave Scribe Pens New “Ben-Hur” Draft

John Ridley (“12 Years A Slave,” “Red Tails”) has come onboard to pen a re-write of the script for Timur Bekmambetov’s new “Ben-Hur” film adaptation at MGM.

Keith Clarke (“The Way Back”) penned the earlier draft for this new version which is said to stick closer to Wallace’s original novel. MGM sold the rights to the 1959 film back in the 1980s, but Wallace’s novel is in the public domain.

Casting aims to begin soon ahead of a production start this spring. Sean Daniel and Joni Levin are attached to produce.
