Slave Leads Gotham Indie Film Award Nominees

Steve McQueen’s “12 Years a Slave” scored the most nominations for the 23rd annual Gotham Independent Film Awards which were announced today.

The Fox Searchlight film scored three nominations – Best Feature, Best Actor (Chiwetel Ejiofor) and Breakthrough Actor (Lupita Nyong’o).

Five other films scored two nominations each – “Blue Caprice,” “Concussion,” “Fruitvale Station,” “Inside Llewyn Davis” and “Upstream Color”.

Twenthy-three films in all scored nominations from the group which focuses on independent American movies from U.S.-based or U.S.-born directors.

Other notable films which nabbed a nomination include the likes of “Kill Your Darlings,” “All is Lost,” “Short Term 12,” “Blue Jasmine,” “Dallas Buyers Club” and “The Act of Killing”.

The five nominees for the top honor of the Best Feature award are “12 Years a Slave,” “Ain’t Them Bodies Saints,” “Before Midnight,” “Inside Llewyn Davis,” and “Upstream Color”.
