Skins Scribe Pens Depp’s “Wintergreen”

Playwright and UK “Skins” scribe Jack Thorne has been hired to pen the family fantasy adventure “Mortimer Wintergreen” at Warner Bros. Pictures.

A loose adaptation of Myron Levoy’s 1987 young-adult novel “The Magic Hat of Mortimer Wintergreen,” the story is set in the 1890s.

The book followed a brother and sister who run away from their mean aunt and cross paths with a traveling magician with a magical hat. The three find themselves on a series of wild adventures.

Susanna White (“Nanny McPhee Returns”) is directing while Johnny Depp, Christi Dembrowski and John Carls are producing. Depp might star depending upon script approval and his schedule.
