Stellan Skarsgard and Emily Watson will join Jared Harris in the five-part miniseries “Chernobyl” for HBO and Sky.
The story deals with the Chernobyl nuclear power plant explosion in April 1986 and follows the lives of the men and women who acted heroically to mitigate the catastrophic damage that devastated the former Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic.
Skarsgard will take on the role of Boris Shcherbina, the Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers and head of the Bureau for Fuel and Energy of the USSR.
Watson will be Soviet nuclear physicist Ulana Khomyuk, trying to find a way to ensure the man-made disaster to ensure it never happens again. Harris will portray Valery Legasov, the Kremlin-appointed scientist investigating the accident.
