Sister Act 3 Planned For Disney Service

Disney Pictures is reportedly developing “Sister Act 3” to premiere on its upcoming streaming service Disney+.

It has not yet been revealed whether Whoopi Goldberg will be returning in the new installment of the popular comedy film series, and plot specifics are under wraps. Regina Hicks (“Insecure”) and Karin Gist (“Star”) pen the script.

Goldberg starred in the original as Deloris, a Las Vegas lounge singer who witnesses her mob boss boyfriend commit murder. She is placed in a nunnery in witness protection, hiding under the identity of Sister Mary Clarence. Maggie Smith, Kathy Najimy, Wendy Makkena, Harvey Keitel, and Bill Nunn co-starred.

Goldberg has previously teased the project, dubbing it a “brand-new rendition of Sister Act”. Disney+ is expected to open for subscribers in 2019.
