Bryan Singer (“X-Men,” “Superman Returns”) is attached to direct an untitled feature about the great choreographer/dancer/director Bob Fosse for HBO Films reports Reuters.
Fosse was an actor, dancer, choreographer and stage and screen director who moved to Broadway where he choreographed shows and created his own dance style. Bowler hats, jazz hands, angular hip thrusts and shrugging shoulders were big elements of his shows including “Redhead,” “Sweet Charity,” “Pippin” and “Chicago.”
He then went on to direct films including “Cabaret,” “Lenny,” “Sweet Charity,” “Star 80” and his autobiographical feature “All That Jazz”. This film will be based on Sam Wasson’s upcoming biography “Bye, Bye Life: The Loves and Deaths of Bob Fosse”,
Singer will also executive produce alongside “Hairspray” and “Chicago” duo Neil Meron and Craig Zadan, no scribe is yet attached.
