“Sinbad” Film Seeks Ethnically Correct Actor

Producers David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman have confirmed that the upcoming new live-action adaptation of “Sinbad” will seek a Middle Eastern actor to play the titular hero.

Hoberman tells Heat Vision: “We’ve given it a lot of thought, and that would be the priority. We have an Englishman that goes along with him. It’s a two-hander, and almost a three hander.”

Miguel Sapochnik (“Game of Thrones”) is onboard to direct from a script by Kyle Killen. The sailor character, who often finds himself stranded on islands and going on adventure after adventure, has been adapted three previous times to the big screen.

The news comes after several films have come under fire for whitewashing in Hollywood. Hoberman and Lieberman co-produced this week’s “Beauty and the Beast” and are attached to the “Chip ‘n’ Dale” movie.
