A scoop the other week emerged over at IESB about the sequel rights to “Sin City” being up for grabs. The Weinstein Company denied the rumor both then and now even as evidence is emerging against their denials.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, several producers have said that they have been shopped the rights by reps for Miller’s estate who are seeking a new place to set up a potential follow-up to the Robert Rodriguez-directed 2005 comic noir feature which grossed $159 million worldwide.
It is unclear what kind of involvement Rodriguez would have with a potential sequel. The Weinstein’s for now are standing by their original denial from a few weeks ago that said “TWC’s rights to produce sequels to ‘Sin City’ remain intact as they always have been.”
